Shopping Week - 20 - 26 July 2008
A summer celebration in Stromness featuring
sports, art, music, dance and of course the Shopping Week Queen and her

The County Show - 9 August 2008
The first
week in August is the agricultural show week in Orkney with the final being
the County Show. All of the shows are a great family day out, where the finest
of the islands' livestock compete for "Best
in Show".

Orkney Beer Festival - 22 - 24 August 2008
This festival is a chance to sample award-winning local beers as well
as cask conditioned ales from the length and breadth of the UK, in the
welcoming surroundings of the Stromness Hotel.

This international science festival features demonstrations, talks,
field trips and visits, and evening ceilidhs and concerts.
